Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2019 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at installing the Blue Ox base plate on a 2019 Jeep Cherokee. Now, there's five main components required when flat towing a vehicle. and starting on the vehicle side, the first thing is gonna be the base plate and that's gonna attach to the frame of the vehicle or a structural part of the vehicle that's gonna allow you to attach the rest of the components and safely tow it down the road. Now, connected to the arms on our base plate is gonna be our tow bar and this is the connection point between the hitch on the RV and the towed vehicle. On our base plate we also have these loops for safety chains which is gonna be one of the components. So in case of a disconnect, you still have those chains holding onto the towed vehicle. more

Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plates Installation - 2022 Jeep Cherokee- Video
It's Brad here at E Trailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Roadmaster base plate for flat towed vehicles on a 2022 Jeep Cherokee. Now this is gonna be available in two different styles. You're gonna have your direct connect which is gonna go straight to your tow bar or you can also have a crossbar style. Now if you pick up that crossbar style you're also gonna need to pick up that crossbar. This is gonna be separate and that way you can attach it to your tow bar. Now this is what our base plate is gonna look like when installed. more

etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit Installation - 2019 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Hi there, Jeep owners. Today on your 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install etrailer's base plate. Here you can see our attachment points where we'll hook up our tow bar on each side and you can see that the base plate is gonna be completely hidden behind our fascia and it's just gonna poke out the holes where your tow hooks used to be if you had tow hooks. If not, they would poke out of the area that's just covered up where a to hook potentially could go. There is a bracket that's a universal bracket that you can choose wherever you want to install it on your vehicle for mounting up your electrical connector. And we decided to just put it right here in the middle for mounting up our electrical components, as well as our breakaway switch and braking system attachment. more

Hi there Jeep owners. your 2022 Jeep Cherokee. We're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install Demco's tabless base plate. And this is what our base plate looks like when it's installed. The base plate will replace your factory tow hooks on each side and will just slide right in there. Now you do need to take off the fascia to be able to reach all the mounting locations and things like that, but it actually makes it a fairly easy install compared to some other base plates since we're reusing a lot of the same locations for factory hardware. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer. And today we're taking a look at installing the Blue Ox Base Plate on a 2022 Jeep Cherokee. Now, this is what it's gonna look like when it's installed. And to be completely honest, it's really clean looking. In fact, it takes away the factory red tow hooks here on this trailhawk, which is unfortunate but it's nice that it uses the same spot because you're not gonna have to cut any of the fascia in order for the base plate to go on. Now, some of your other components may require that but overall using those factory locations is really nice. more

Other than these components that pass through, there is gonna be some trimming required to get this to pass through. Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're going to be going over and showing you how to install the Roadmaster direct connect base plate kit here on our 2017 Jeep Cherokee. So the base plate kit here is just going to be one of the several other things we're going to need to successfully flat tow our Cherokee here. Now a lists of some of those other things such as the tow bar. Now our particular tow bar comes with safety cables but if yours doesn't or the one you're looking at doesn't you will need to pick up some of those as well because they aren't required component. A few of the other things is going to be a breaking system A lot of States now require a vehicle over a certain weight to use a supplemental braking system. So more often than not you're going to be required to use that in your state. more

So here is what our base plate kit is going to look like while it's installed on the vehicle and we don't have an attached to the motor home here. As we can see, it has a super nice factory clean finish like install look. It's just barely going to protrude from the bumper facia here and the majority of it is going to insert through where our factory tow hooks were, which means there's going to be very minor modifications needed to install this.So right now, as we said, we have it in the configuration that we would just be driving around town. more

Today on our 2018 Jeep Cherokee, we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms. Now keep in mind that it's only gonna be one component you need for a complete, safe flat-tow setup. For a complete setup you're gonna need a base plate, a tow bar, tow bar wiring, a braking system, and finally safety cables.So here's what our base plate looks like once we have it installed. This is gonna give us a really solid attachment point so we can hook up our tow bar and safely flat-tow our Jeep down the road. One of the nicest things about our base plate is whenever we're not towing, most of us are gonna look at this and say, "I really don't want this bracket sticking out." Well, we can come to this pull ring here, simply pull on it, rotate the arm, and we can pull it out. Now it's gonna be a lot less visible and be hidden pretty well in here in the under grill part. more

The other four are going to be your braking system, your tow bar, safety cables, and your lighting.This base plate is going to be custom fit, hidden reinforcement design. It's going to mount directly to the chassis so less of the bracket shows and it's going to maintain that nice clean look. When you're not towing the vehicle, the base plate's also going to come with a nice caps. It's going to help keep any dirt and debris from getting inside.With this base plate it's going to be a tabless design, which means that your tabs or your removal arms are going to be mounted to the tow bar unlike some of the other ones, where you have a removable arm that you have to add to your base plate. Then you put your tow bar onto the removable arm. more

Now, here's what our base plate's going to look like installed on our Cherokee Trailhawk without the arms in place. As you can see it's going to blend in pretty nicely. We've just replaced our tow hooks, which tend to stand out on this model anyway.You can see we've got our safety chain connection point there, and then the receiver portion of our removable arm, got a cap there just to protect it from dirt and debris getting in there. Just slide that arm in and rotate it, and that's going to give us our connection point. more

Speaker 1: Today in our 2018 Jeep Cherokee we're going to be installing Roadmaster's EZ5 Baseplate Kit part number RM-521446-5. This base plate from Roadmaster is going to allow your Cherokee to be pulled behind your RV without the hassle of a trailer or dolly. The baseplate's permanently installed, so it's always there when you need it. For an additional layer of security there's the safety chain loop located on the side here next to your hookup for your tow bars. It hides nicely underneath the bumper, just barely poking out, and it fits pretty flush with the bumper so you don't have to worry about it sticking out too far and having to keep that in your mind when driving the vehicle worrying about bumping into something.When you're ready to use your tow bars, just slide in the tow bar adapter and turn it to lock it into place. This tow bar adapter makes it really easy to hook up your Roadmaster tow bars. more

Blue Ox Base Plate Kit Installation - 2017 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Speaker 1: Today on our 2017 Jeep Cherokee we're gonna be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit with removable arms, part number BX1138. Here's what our base plate looks like once we have it fully installed. Now this is gonna allow us to hook up to our motor home on our tow bar and safely tow our Cherokee down the road.Our base plate has removable arms so when we're not towing our Cherokee we can pull on this pin here, rotate it, and then pull the arm out and it's very unnoticeable because it's gonna be hidden behind the grill and it's gonna have this nice black powder coat finish that blends in nicely. After you remove the arm they come with these plastic caps so we can put it inside the baseplate so it'll be nice and protected and keep any kind of debris from getting inside.The distance between our two brackets is gonna be 34 inches and the brackets themselves are gonna be 19 inches off the ground, which is a good measurement to know because you're gonna want to make sure that you're towing your Cherokee nice and flat when you're going down the road.Our Blue Ox base plate is gonna work with a wide variety of Blue Ox tow bars as well as some Roadmaster tow bars with an adapter that is sold separately. Our base plate is gonna be custom designed for our Cherokee so there's gonna be very minimal cutting or any kind of drilling that we're gonna have to do. Compared to the Roadmaster base plate our Blue Ox is gonna be a lot simpler of an installation with a lot less cutting and drilling involved. more

So here's what our base plate looks like when it's fully installed. This is going to allow us to flat tow our Jeep down the road safely and securely behind our motor home.What you're really going to like is that it's custom made so installation's going to be a little bit easier and also when we're not towing we can pull on that ring and the arms going to come out and it's very inconspicuous and it's really not that noticeable. Now what are base plate, really the main purpose of it is it's going to spread the towing force evenly so we're going to take off some of that stress from our front suspension.Our base plate's made of steel with a nice black powder coat finish. So it's going to blend in nicely. And when we're not towing we can take the included caps, keep them in there, so we won't have to worry about dirt, debris, or any rust build up inside. more

Today on our 2017 Jeep Cherokee we're gonna be taking a look at, and showing you how to install, the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit, with the removable arms, part number RM-521447-4. So here's what our base plate looks like fully installed, this is gonna allows us to flat tow our vehicle behind our motor home, safely and securely. When we're not towing, our base plate is gonna feature an extremely low profile design, and if we come to the removable arms up here, and we pull that tab, we can rotate it 90 degrees and pull it straight out. Now it's very less noticeable, and hidden behind of our grill. Our removable arms are gonna be quick disconnects, we're gonna have a pull ring right here, we're just gonna unlock it, then we're gonna be able to rotate it 90 degrees, and either remove it, or to install it we can put it in, making sure that we push in far enough that it'll release the ring, then we can rotate it and it will lock into position, and we'll be ready to hook up our tow bar. Our base plate is compatible with all Roadmaster motor home mounted and car mounted tow bars. Now this is a custom design, so it is designed specifically to fit your particular vehicle, and as far as the installation goes, there is no welding required, but there is some minor drilling that we're gonna have to do. Now that we've gone over some of the features, let's show you how we get it installed. To begin our installation I'm gonna take our hardware, and make sure that we have all our pieces. more

Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit Installation - 2016 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Today in our 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk, we'll be installing the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit with removable arms, Part number RM-521446-4. All right, here is what our base plate looks like once it's been installed. As you can see it's nice and tucked up behind our bumper cover of our vehicle. Very little sticks out, so we don't have to worry about running into it with our knees or our legs while we're walking in front of our vehicle. So, this is what it looks like when you're not towing your vehicle behind your motor home or your RV. When you want to hook it up, you take the removable arms, slide them in at a horizontal angle, twist it until the pin locks it into place. It's the same on the other side of the vehicle, and then your tow bar will attach here. Once you're hooked up to your RV, this base plate will allow you to flat tow your vehicle with all four wheels on the ground without having the added expense of having to purchase a trailer. Now once we've arrived at our destination, and we've unhooked from the RV, we want make our vehicle clean and have a nice look while we're driving down the road. You just pull the pin out, twist it 90 degrees, and pull straight out. All right, here's what our base plate kit consists of. more

Roadmaster EZ5 Base Plate Kit Installation - 2015 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Today on our 2015 Jeep Cherokee we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Roadmaster EZ5 Base Kit with Removable Arms, part number RM-521446-5. It's got a nice black powder coated finish that's going to help with rust and corrosion. They fit back nice and flush against the bumper. The only protrusion's going to be your safety chain loop. Very minimal cutting around the outside edges just so you can slide it back. This is a complete bolt on design, it doesn't require any drilling, uses factory holes. more

Today on our 2015 Jeep Cherokee we are installing our Roadmaster EZ4 base plate kit with removable arms. Part number for that is RM-521446-4. All right, I've got our other side in place already. The way this goes in, we've got our notch sides here. We want to line that up so it's running parallel to our bumper. It'll slide in place. It pushes our pin here backwards and we'll turn it counter-clockwise until it clicks and that pin holds it from turning or moving on you. more

This is our base plate assembly. This is our safety chain attachment right here. Not much to see, but it does fit this pre-existing opening in the vehicle. Today on our 2014 Jeep Cherokee, we'll be installing the Blue Ox base plate kit with removable arms, part number BX1136. Now to install the removable arm, simply line up slot in the middle, push it in. You'll then twist so that this little locking pin here locks it in place. Go ahead and begin here by raising up the hood of the vehicle. To start with, we're going to need to remove push pin fasteners from the top section here. Now with all of our push fasteners removed, we can go ahead and set this top section off. Go ahead and set that aside for now. Next, we're going to need to remove three bolts here on the back side. more

Today on our 2014 Jeep Cherokee we'll be installing the Roadmaster ez4 Base Plate Kit with Removable Arms. Part number RM-521447-4. Now to begin our install, we'll first go ahead and open up the hood. Then we're going to remove the front core support and radiator cover. To remove it we'll need to remove all the push pin fasteners that secure it. These push pin fasteners are a two-piece fastener. more

Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit Instalaltion - 1993 Jeep Cherokee- Video
Today in our 1993 Jeep Cherokee we will be installing the Road Master XL Base Plate Kit with Removal Arms, part number 1418-1. To begin our install we will first need to remove the lower rack guards. Starting in the centre, there are three push pin fasteners that will need to be removed. We will take our pry tool, get underneath the guard or push pin fastener and pry it out of its place. Once we have all three fasteners removed we will then go ahead and pull back on the rack guard to get it behind the sway bar and out of our way. We can then just let it hang down.Next we will need to repeat the same process with the guards, run off the front wheel well to the front bumper. more
